SG Trip 2025

Note: Please click on the individual header to expand on it.

The main purpose of this 3D2N trip is to attend FHA-FnB 2025, which is supposed to be attended by my father. Guess he had pass the baton to us, and now we will attend it.

And also, to have a short meetup with our cousin that stays there.

We stayed at Ibis Bencoolen, which is a decent hotel with a little, but manageable walking distance to Bugis or Bencoolen MRT.

Thoughts

Honestly, 3D2N is too short of a trip to have a full experience, as there is a lot of place that we are unable to go. But still:

  • In Singapore, really need to be willing to spend to have an more enjoyable trip. Just do the budget, accept it and let the experience (and money) flow.
  • Have to make preparations, physically and mentally against the blazing hot sun, and roaring thunderstorms, as we don’t have our own car to drive around.
  • The feeling of revisiting some day soon is still there! (I hear someone’s concert is drawing near…)
  • Singapore is not afraid of utilizing public spaces. At here you can find random table and benches just appearing on the walkways, and the locals will use it to spend time with family, or for self work etc.

FHA-Food and Beverage 2025 Fair

The Exhibition is very grand that spanned to 8 halls, and we definitely have a hard time to tour the whole expo, with the constant stops to test on the free foods, inquiries, and networking with potential customer and supplier. It is a shame that we are only able to go at the very last day.

Snaps Expo is just 2 or 3 station away from the airport, very convenient! (Although we are taking low-cost airline, we landed at Terminal 4, and have to take bus to Terminal 2 for the MRT)

The drink that aids you to sleep.
Looks pro with all the machineries to age, store and grill the beef steak

Tea Beer :o
Very tasty and flavourful, aromatic truffle sauces, mushroom sauces!
Group photos at the last!

Foods

Even though I’m Malaysian, and the rivalry in the foods scene between Singapore is very infamous, I always try to keep an open heart on others food culture, try to understand and respect it.

Of course if someone say that xxx here taste good, It’s obligatory to slot in “If you get a chance to visit Malaysia sometime, I bring you to eat a different version of this” :P

Ya Kun Kaya Toast

Snaps
Nice cuppa coffee, can't go wrong with the basics.
Mmmm normal x)
Might have overdosed on the soy sauce on this one. The soy sauce used seems to be very bright dark in colour, but rest assured it doesn't taste as salty as it seems.

Ji Ji Noodle House

Opens at 5pm, but there’s already some queue in front of it. Good thing that we plopped our asses on their front store by then.

One thing about the ordering here is after you placed your order and paid, the owner will then make your order, finished then only she will serve the next one.

Their noodle is quite springy which I liked, and the soy chicken taste good. But the sauce is still on the light side, and the charsiew I prefered the honey roasted ones :3. But for SGD 4.5 price, dollar to dollar wise it is really a good bowl for me already.

Snaps

L’Atelier TiramiSu

A shop with assortment of flavours for the tiramisu, very moist and flavourful. If there is a touch of Kahlua to the tiramisu, then it will be the best.

Snaps Classic Flavour
Earl Grey flavour, with some hint of lavender
Assortment of flavours

Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh @ Clarke Quay

Went to here as Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is closed on that day, it’s just opposite of each other.

As expected, the BKT here will be in pepper soup base. Kind of nice to eat especially on chilly days, but still it is pepper soup x)

Snaps
Actually not too bad, but some might find the pepper soup a bit too spicy.

Teawares found usually in traditional BKT shops, where there will be a hot kettle kept on the side for self refill. Lo Bak

Dearborn

A cafe in New Bahru, where it is kind of a 4-storey U shaped apartment, encircling a parking space with greeneries. Sunny and filled with activities.

Snaps Damn... look at how sunny is this. Queued on this heat outdoor for some good 15 mins 🥵

Potato and Egg - Very smooth, milky and fluffy foam texture, with a soft-boiled egg hidden inside. A simple and nice meal, if not for the small portion.
Duck and Hash - Nice duck confit, with the tanginess and heat from the sauce and topping. Quite a refreshing meal.
Egg and Prosciutto English Muffin - Multiple layer of goodness from the saltiness from Prosciutto and cheese crisp, balanced with picked jalapenos and sweet sauce.

Sawadee Thai Cuisine @ Bugis

A quite enjoyable Thai Cuisine shop, where we meet a bit with our cousin and had a good time and meal there.

I kinda get lazy to add caption to all below photos, so lets just put it this way that I won’t mind to return here for another helping (as far as my wallet allows me x) )

Snaps

Yat Ka Yan @ Bugis

Some say here is a hit among the locals, and I can see why as even it’s almost 10pm, I still spent almost 30min queuing outside to went in.

Snaps

Walnut paste is good here
My friend ordered Cheng Tang (Translate to Clear Soup...?), which I find it a bit too sweet for me, as I ordered takeaway on these.

Ng Kuan Chilli Pan Mee

One thing I like about the panmee here, is the heaps of fried shallots and garlic dumped to the noodles. And also, they had taken the initiative to clear the innards of the anchovies, which I really appreciate it.

However, the soup is still a bit light to my liking.

Snaps

City Shots

Holy smokes the sun!

Met a very talkative owner here, where he enthusiastically shared his knowledge, and where he obtained these exotic and extinct tiles with different rarity grades.

Snaps

The process of cleaning and preserving tiles that is retrieved from the rubble.

New Bahru

Discovered a workshop where the owner teaches the kids on doing some handi-arts. Some we feel that it is very creative and inspiring!

Snaps Twist to see the meeple running
Swimming pool, never know can depict with this

Some other bookshop, where we also spent some time in there to chill from the hot weather and indulge in the books a bit.

Merlion Park / Fullerton Hotel

How can a Singapore trip be complete without visiting the Merlion?

Snaps Rain... When it's raining time, Singapore really can kasi you kau kau la.
Apparently also another landmark of the bay
Sky clear up, quickly move into position and take some phots

Feels like staying in MBS someday.

National Museum of Singapore

We also got the chance to visit National Museum of Singapore, with SGD10 per person on our last day, while carrying our luggages walking from Bencoolen to there. Definitely not for the weak :/

It’s information bombing us on the founding of Singapore with how it started on the native, the colonization, and then the history of Singapore with Malaysia, on the joy and sorrow of the unification and separation.

Changi Jewel

Changi Airport, on the JEWEL side is very comfortable, greenery and filled with fresh air. Kinda amazed how the mall integrates to the airport terminal.

If I’m a Singaporean and wanting to take a break and relax from my daily life, I like to think that I will come here often. Not sure how my Singaporean friends think though.

Snaps

Seems like it is a tourist thing to do to take the train that pass by the fountain, but we didn't get the chance to do that

Night Scene

Clarke Quay

Random shots

Snaps Definitely not sitting on that....

Wavy wavy
A pop mart a day, keeps your wallet popped away...
Can you read this?
Maplestory... Nostalgic memories

Skipper, Rico, Kowalski, Private Reporting for Duty

Being assigned to tour the FHA Food and Beverage Exhibition is not an easy task, with the scheming, networking and finesse needed to get the task done. Hence, King Julian has assigned the penguins to go get em.

However, penguins just can’t resist the urge to pose right… see how many pose do you recognize? xD

Being weird lulz

This is taken at the Guest floor lift lobby. Really like this piece with the composition, lighting and mood it emanates.
